Coffee Plant

I go to coffee plant every dang day of the week and I love them. My latte is usually ready by the time I pay (so, thank you!). Not only that, I tried one of their sammy's today and it was delicious! I had the ham, swiss, tomato and spinach and it was jam packed with goodness! Um, YUM!

Although I've encountered individuals who believe the staff is somehow shitty I have to say, I just don't see it. I've conversed with every last one of em' and they all have been genuine, funny and friendly. Maybe those individuals should go to Coffee People down the street? Just a suggestion...Why would you believe someone like me (who has taste)? Trust.

SPOONS!!

This shit's for real. Like oh-so-good. In my extraordinary opinion, I believe this is by far the healthiest/yummiest/fresh-est cart in Portland (SW 5th & Oak). Don't get me wrong, I love me some burritos and falafel n' shit but, I'm just sayin, I go here more often than not.

Chili? Forget about it. This is made with L-O-V-E. Silky-smooth layas of flayva, spicy and chunky. It's so good I tried to replicate this shit 3 days later. Mission Impossible (I'm now in the process of getting the adorable man behind the metal curtain to show me how it's done).

Soups: yet to try one I didn't like.

Oregon Seasonal Salad: Whatever, I've had this like 7 times and it is what it is. Pears, creamy Bleu Cheese, Hazelnuts....It's huge. $5.50. With bread. And a side of smile with nice chompers to boot.

Whisper voice: Sometimes I'll even spend an extra buck fifty and get some soup on the side to have the next day. Get over it.

Although I haven’t had everything (I have an addictive personality) the price, soups and service is what keeps me coming back.

Spoons.

Flavour Spot

Recommended by a trusted source, we decided to trek through the hood for some of this deliciousness.

A tiny little food shack in the parking lot of Videorama on N. Lombard and Greeley they serve baked to order waffles filled to the brim with all sorts of high quality goodness. EVERYTHING sounded good and after much deliberation, B decided to go with the Butter and Powdered sugar (which melts in yo mouth) and the Sausage & Maple (so sweet and oh-so-savory) while I indulged myself with the Ham & Cheese (a yummy, gooey, hot mess). The decision was hard considering they serve anything from peanut butter and nutella to a waffle ice cream sandwich!! What? Oh god. Ice cream, waffle, whipped cream, sprinkles… are you fucking with me? I kinda feel sick thinking about it, but goddamn if I’m not going to try it.

There's a reason Gabriel Rucker won Best New Chef for 2007.

EVERYTHING about Le Pigeon is fucking amazing.

Violet's Cafe - What happened?

Violet's used to be, hands down, one of THE best breakfast spots in town. They recently changed ownership and in return lost all the magic, waitstaff and cooks. Other noticed losses? Good service. Although we were able to get a table right away (there was no one else in there), we had to ask twice for water after it took them about 15 min. to ask if we wanted anything to drink. After many tries at eye contact to either of the two waitresses ( pretty sure it was their first day) the old lady owner who looked liked Mrs. Costanza, finally asked if we were ready to order. YES! She then called out to "Trying Too Hard to be witty" waitress#1, who came over in a jiffy but was awkwardly sideswiped by "I'm such a busy waitress in a cafe with 2 people" waitress#2 that she would take our order. Meanwhile we're just staring at both of them wondering if we would eat TODAY! We ordered off the original menu and waited very patiently for what we hoped would be a delicious breakfast/lunch.

10 min later: Doo-da-doo-da-doo. Still waiting for water...

7 min later: I'm so thirsty, I think I'm going to faint...

5 min later: Ahhhh, delicious water. Thank you lady, who won't give either of us eye contact!

We received our food (that took all three people to serve) and to be honest, the food was just okay. The homefries have changed to what used to be a delicious burst of flavored chunks are now cubes of tasteless cardboard, the omelet which used to be jam packed with perfectly flavored everything was now moderately seasoned and just alright. The goat cheese sandwich had too much goat, not enough pesto and was supposed to come as a panini. This baby was barely warm and I'm pretty sure my salad dressing had expired...

Not once did Mrs. Costanza , waitress#1 or waitress#2 stop by to ask us how we were doing, how our food was, or re-fill our drinks. Bad idea.

To sum things up, what used to be thought of as a delicious and charming place for breakfast, that I recommended to EVERYONE, is now a charmless "okay" breakfast place that lost great staff, good energy and loyal patrons. We won't be going back.
